It appears Chris Hemsworth who played James T. Kirk’s father George Kirk and Captain of the U.S.S. Kelvin in the prologue of J.J. Abrams directed reboot Star Trek (2009), will be returning to the franchise in Star Trek 4. At least that’s what movie critic Scott Mantz via Twitter is reporting while interviewing J.J. Abrams.
Star Trek Beyond the third installment of the rebooted franchise hasn’t even hit theaters, due to July 22nd. It not uncommon for studios to prepare for sequels prior to the release of the current installment of a franchise. It does come on the heels of early reactions to Star Trek Beyond being positive. If true, the official should be expected soon, possibly during Comic Con..
It will be interesting how the reappearance will occur, especially since Star Trek Beyond promotional material indicates that Kirk is having difficulty living in the shadow of his father.
