Marvel Studios announced earlier today that production has begun on Black Panther. With the announcement came the full cast cast list and official synopsis.
Black Panther stars Chadwick Boseman returning as titular hero he originated in Captain America : Civil War. Joining him is Sterling K. Brown as N’Jobu, a figure from T’Challa’s past; Lupita Nyong’o as the Wakandan warrior, Nakia; Angela Bassett as T’Challa’s mother, Romonda; and Winston Duke as a key villain, M’Baku, a.k.a. Man-Ape. The rest of the cast includes Forest Whitaker as Zuri, an elder statesman of Wakanda; Daniel Kaluuya as W’Kabi, a loyal friend to T’Challa; and the return of Andy Serkis as Ulysses Claw and Martin Freeman as Everett K. Ross, with Danai Gurira and Florence Kasumba as members of T’Challa’s personal guard, the DoraMilaje. Additional cast members are Letitia Wright and John Kani. Black Panther is currently shooting in Atlanta to be followed an surprising shoot in South Korea.
The official synopsis:
Black Panther follows T’Challa who, after the events of Captain America: Civil War, returns home to the isolated, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to take his place as King. However, when an old enemy reappears on the radar, T’Challa’s mettle as King and Black Panther is tested when he is drawn into a conflict that puts the entire fate of Wakanda and the world at risk.
Marvel Studios’ Black Panther is produced by Kevin Feige with Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Nate Moore, Jeffrey Chernov and Stan Lee serving as executive producers.
Black Panther hits theaters February 18th, 2018.
