By the power of Grey Skull, Masters of the Universe has a release date. EW has confirmed that the long in development, Masters of the Universe reboot has finally gotten its spot on the calendar, Dec. 18, 2019. That’s not all folks McG (Charlie’s Angels) who had been on board to direct since way back in 2016 may no longer be attached. According to EW, Sony is meeting with directors, and that David S. Goyer (Batman Begins, Man of Steel) is writing the screenplay for the film.
Masters of the Universe began as a line of toys from Mattel with an accompanying animated series that spawned further series, and eventually live-action film starring Dolph Lundgren in 1987 as Prince Adam / He-Man, the defender of Eternia. The film also had Frank Langella as He-Man’s nemesis Skeletor, and marked one of the first films of Courtney Cox‘s career.
