Terms of Use

Last updated: 7 September 2026

These are the rules for using FlickItPickIt, written in plain English rather than legal fog. By creating an account or joining a movie night you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.

1. What FlickItPickIt Is

FlickItPickIt recommends films and television programmes and helps a group decide between them. Everyone brings their own taste, the group swipes through the same suggestions, and the night ends on a single title the group chose.

It does not stream anything. There is no video player, and we have no affiliation with, and no endorsement from, any streaming service, studio or distributor. Details about titles — including where they can be watched — come from third-party catalogue data, differ by country, change over time, and may cost extra to rent or buy. Check the service itself before you settle in. Suggestions are generated automatically and can include adult-rated titles unless family-friendly mode is switched on for that night.

2. Your Account

  • You must be at least 13 years old to hold an account.
  • Give accurate details, including a real email address and date of birth.
  • One account per person. Don’t share it or hand it to someone else.
  • Keep your password and any magic link private. Anything done with your credentials is treated as done by you, so tell us straight away if you think someone else has access.
  • You can sign in with an email address and password, a magic link, Google, or Sign in with Apple in the iOS app. The same account works on the app and the website.

3. Acceptable Use

Use FlickItPickIt for what it is for. Please don’t:

  • Harass, abuse, threaten or impersonate anyone, or use a display name or night name that is offensive, misleading or someone else’s.
  • Join, disrupt or spy on a movie night you were not invited to, or interfere with anyone else’s session, votes or results.
  • Access the service with bots, scrapers, or any automated means, or hammer it with automated requests. Rate limits exist and circumventing them is not on.
  • Probe, reverse-engineer or break our security, or try to reach accounts, data or systems that are not yours.
  • Resell, sublicense or commercially redistribute the service, its recommendations, or the catalogue data it displays.
  • Use the service for anything unlawful, or in breach of a third party’s rights.

4. Subscriptions and Payment

The free plan gives you 3 movie nights a month — whether you host one, join someone else’s, or watch on your own — with groups of up to 4 people. FlickItPickIt Pro removes the monthly limit and allows groups of up to 10 people. Plan lengths and the price in your local currency are shown before you confirm a purchase; we don’t restate prices here, because they vary by territory and change over time.

  • Auto-renewal. Pro is an auto-renewing subscription. It renews at the end of each period unless auto-renew is switched off at least 24 hours before that period ends, and payment is taken within the 24 hours before it ends.
  • Free trial. New subscribers get a 7-day free trial. Any unused part of a trial is forfeited when a subscription is purchased.
  • Cancelling. Cancel wherever you bought it. Subscriptions bought in the iOS app are billed by Apple and managed in Settings → your name → Subscriptions; subscriptions bought on the website are managed on the website. Cancelling one never cancels the other. Cancelling stops the next renewal — Pro keeps working until the end of the period you have paid for.
  • Refunds. Subscriptions bought in the iOS app are refunded, if at all, under Apple’s refund policy and through Apple, not us. For subscriptions bought on the website, your statutory rights as a consumer apply; beyond those, we do not refund part-used periods. Ask us and we will look at it fairly.
  • Price changes. Prices can change. We will tell you before a change affects a renewal, and where the store requires it, your consent is collected before the new price is charged. You can cancel instead.
  • Purchases through Apple are also subject to Apple’s own terms and to the Apple Account you paid with.

5. Content and Intellectual Property

The FlickItPickIt name, brand, software and design are ours. You get a personal, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the service — nothing more.

Film and television metadata, posters, artwork, synopses and certifications belong to their respective owners and are used under the terms of the data sources below. Nothing here transfers any right in them to you.

  • TMDB — this product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
  • JustWatch — watch-provider and availability data is supplied by JustWatch through TMDB.
  • Trakt — additional metadata, including certifications.

The small amount of text you can add — your display name and, on Pro, a name for a night — stays yours. You are responsible for it, you grant us permission to show it to the people in that night, and it must follow section 3.

6. Ending Your Access

You can stop at any time. Delete your account in the iOS app under Your account → Delete account, or email us at the address below and we will delete it. Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through Apple; cancel that in Settings → Subscriptions.

We can suspend or close an account that breaks these terms — particularly for abuse of other participants, automated access, or attacks on the service — and we may do so without notice where the breach is serious. We may also stop offering the service, or a part of it; if we do, we will give reasonable notice and will not keep charging you for something you cannot use.

7. Disclaimers

FlickItPickIt is provided as it is. We work hard to keep it running, but we do not promise that it will always be available, uninterrupted, or free of faults.

Recommendations are generated automatically and are suggestions, not a guarantee of quality, suitability or accuracy. Availability, ratings, certifications and artwork come from third parties and can be wrong or out of date. Always check with the streaming service before relying on it. Nothing in these terms affects your legal rights as a consumer.

8. Limitation of Liability

We are responsible for loss we cause you that was a foreseeable result of our breaking these terms or failing to use reasonable care. We are not responsible for anything unforeseeable, for losses that are not related to our service, or for a third party’s data, service or streaming platform.

Where the law allows a limit, our total liability to you for anything connected with the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or £50 if you paid us nothing. We never exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded.

9. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of Northern Ireland, and the courts of Northern Ireland have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you live elsewhere in the United Kingdom or in the European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of the country you live in.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms as the product changes. The date at the top always says when they last changed. For anything significant — a change to what you pay, or to your rights — we will give notice in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use FlickItPickIt after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Contact

FlickItPickIt is operated by [REGISTERED COMPANY NAME LTD — OWNER TO CONFIRM].
